As part of the ATE agenda, SOLVIT is promoting innovation in public transport. In recent months, SOLVIT has installed sensors in Carris and Maia Transportes buses that can count the number of passengers getting on and off in real time. The system, which is integrated into the vehicle infrastructure, monitors the status of the doors (whether they are open or closed) and parameters such as fuel consumption, speed and GPS position. SOLVIT developed this technology which was implemented through a gateway that connects the sensors to the vehicle, providing a robust and efficient transport management solution.
This project is part of the Mobility and Sustainable Industries area, one of the strategic axes of the ATE agenda, which aims to promote solutions to decarbonize the transport sector and implement digital infrastructures that increase efficiency and reduce emissions. The initiative directly contributes to the optimization of passenger counting algorithms, improving the operational management and sustainability of public transport in Portugal.
The data collected will feed a real-time analytics infrastructure, allowing informed decisions to be made to improve the user experience, reduce operating costs and maximize the efficiency of public transport.
This project confirms SOLVIT’s role as an agent of change and innovation, contributing to the objectives of the ATE agenda under the PRR (Recovery and Resilience Plan), promoting sustainability and energy transition in Portugal.
